Hot Kugel live in San Francisco

 "Hot Kugel" is Suska Varda and Mordecai playing old time blues and jazz, esoteric lounge, songs from the islands,  songs of the sea, rock and roll classics, melodies from Eastern Europe and much more in their inimical style on a variety of instruments. Hot Kugel has been around and have adapted to the customs of the lands they have sojourned. Their music is steeped in traditional Klezmer with pinches of old-time jazz, ethnic folk, theater and American popular music, simmered gently with the blues, rock and reggae, a dash of psychedelia, and the twanging, lingering tones of Grassabilly, Celtic, and Hawaiian sounds, spiced with the seemingly eternal and right-at-this-moment incarnations of Indian and Middle Eastern melody. The sound is a tasteful integration of traditional Yiddish, New York, Silicon Valley and other world music. 
Hot Kugel has entertained in the South Bay Silicon Valley for over a decade. They've played mixed cultural events, film festivals, ground breaking ceremonies, seniors and Holocaust survivor gatherings, Palo Alto's World Music Day,  The Albert & Janet Schultz Cultural Arts Hall in Palo Alto, The Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival, The San Jose Jazz Festival,  as well as a variety of local establishments and restaurants including Zucca European, The Kitchen Table, Moroccos, Gordon Biersch Brewery, JJ's Blues Lounge, Little Lou's BBQ, The Grand Dell Saloon,  Mood's Wine Bar, The Jerusalem Grill, Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company, Grinds and Vines, Casa Nostre, and The Los Gatos Lodge. Hot Kugel have performed on radio station KKUP, (91.5). They often appear at  local farmers markets, street fairs and festivals and private parties.
